Barry Chabala and Ian Smit have done the "long distance run around" collaboration before tossing tracks back and forth between a very soggy New Jersey and a very dry New Mexico. This tune, The Clearing, marks the first time where Barry composed a score utilizing samples, and Smit colored the composition with electric and acoustic guitars, loops, effects, and a hammered dulcimer. The result is very panoramic in scope and feel, so much so, they could almost see each other...even at that distance!
